Canada Line opened today in Vancouver

The grand opening for the Canada Line was busy, lots of families, kids and tourists. It was expected, but I thought it would be much quiet late in the afternoon, not so.

I arrived at the Waterfront station at 5:15, I stood in line for about 25 minutes, I got on one of the trains at 5:30pm and 28 minutes later, I arrived at the YVR Station. Trasnlink advertises it as a 25 minutes ride, I would say it is accurate. At some stops, we stationed longer than normal.

The trains are roomy, lots of space to accommodate your belongings, if you are a traveller. Lots of bars to hold on, perhaps too many. The doors appear wider. The seats are comfortable, nice for napping or reading in the train.

Networking, so essential in your everyday activity

Another book recommended for reading. Once you read it, you will realize that Networking is a big part of your everyday life, part of making friends, finding a job, develop your leadership skills.

The book shows you how to talk to people, develop your communication skills. Forget the typical conversation, that goes like this:

A: "Hi, how are you?"
B: "Good"

A: "What is new?"
B: "Not much"

A: "Good"
B: "We'll talk later..."

After you read this book, you will have plenty to say when your friends or someone asks you, "What's new?"

Mistakes smart salespeople make

An informative book that you should read, you do not need to be in the sales business, you can apply the tips in your everyday life. A chapter is dedicated to salespeople, but mostly for anybody. Avoid the mistakes smart people do. I read it thoroughly. You can purchase it from Chapters book store or on Amazon

The Olympic games start in 365 days in Vancouver

A year from now, Vancouver will host the 2010 Olympic games. Montreal was the first, then Calgary.

We appear to be in a bad situation due to the economy melting down, but we wish for the best and hope that the economy recovers on time. I believe it will be a successful event.

Vancouver is, IMHO, the best city to live in Canada and, according to a British survey, it is the best place to visit. Let the games begin!

Whatever pops up in your mind, write it down

It seems simple, but it takes good discipline - write down what pops up in your mind. Buy a notebook, it does not matter what kind, type or brand, what is important here is that your thoughts are saved and will not erase in the next couple of weeks or months.

Wherever you are, whatever you do, if you are in a bus, skytrain, walking, running, camping, write down what you will be blogging about. If your goal is to blog everyday - you will never run out of topics. Try not to write down 'Things To Do', or bills to pay, write it down somewhere else.

Believe me or not, it is easy to forget things if we do not write them down, if we do, you will help your mind remember them.
