I did something unusual today

I don't usually buy something for a street person, but today, i did. I bought a slice of pizza for a homeless person on Robson Street.

I went to the Amore Pizza shop at 350 Robson St, i have not been here for a long time, probably a couple of years ago, used to come here often while i was a downtown ambassador. Anyhow, i grabbed two slices, and while i was eating outside i saw a homeless man, that looked like hungry. I paused eating for a second and put myself in his shoes, is he really hungry, i asked myself? So i asked him and he accepted a slice of pizza, after that, i continued eating more comfortably.

One thing i would never give a street person is money, food, certainly. Read This »

Lost my username on facebook...

Facebook decided, after debating for a long time, whether to let users have their on username or not, such as facebook.com/hector, so last Friday it was made public, it was released at 12:00am, 9:00pm local time.

Not surprising, my name was taken, the picture on the profile does look like me though, especially the hair, since it's been taken, i decided to use my domain, facebook.com/hectorplus.

My long hair

Some of my friends have asked me why I am leaving my hair long, well, i wanted to try something new, new look.

I did have my hair long when i first came to Vancouver, that's like 11 years ago, back home(Mexico), it was cool to have long hair, it was trendy, shaved on the side, leaving the top part long, think mushroom.

My goal is to have it long enough that i would be able to tie it from the back. To those friends i do not see often, you might not recognize me, don't be shocked.

Anyhow, so i am trying something new here, try something new yourself, can be anything, you'll feel good.

So I decided to attend a Mayan new year

You maybe asking yourself, what is a Mayan new year, well, if you have some time, wiki about the Mayans here

On saturday, the Mayans celebrated their new year - 5000 years +. This is the first time i actually attend one. It's a very small event that has been taking place by a group of Mayan decedents, it started about 6 years ago.

My parents have always invited me to join the event, but have always found an excuse not to go - let's just say i am not into that thing. Read This »

The Olympic games start in 365 days in Vancouver

A year from now, Vancouver will host the 2010 Olympic games. Montreal was the first, then Calgary.

We appear to be in a bad situation due to the economy melting down, but we wish for the best and hope that the economy recovers on time. I believe it will be a successful event.

Vancouver is, IMHO, the best city to live in Canada and, according to a British survey, it is the best place to visit. Let the games begin!

Taking a long break

As you may have noticed, i have not updated or posted any content in the past couple of weeks. I am taking a long break and due to some changes at work, my time has been very limited, i intend/commit to update my web site, add more frequent content at the beginning of the next year.

Marry Christmas and a very very happy new year!

Annoyed to see many entries from a person in your Facebook?

If you are like me, although a bit of a late comer to Facebook, that gets sometimes annoyed by just one person spamming the main page of your profile, i decided to write about how to limit the entries from one particular person to the Posted Items tab.

If you see several entries from one person in one day, like sharing videos, photos, links, music, an other content, thus filling most of your home page, move your cursor over their name, on the left side, an Options link appears, click on it and a small box pops up, make a choice, such us, 'Fewer posts, Fewer photos, Fewer videos'. The next time the person posts something, it is filtered and goes to the 'Posted Items tab' - You decide when to see all the posts. Read This »
